Checking Your Application Status

solarWithin three weeks of submitting your application for admission to Stony Brook University, we will send you your Stony Brook ID number and a temporary password, which you will need when logging into Stony Brook's secure SOLAR System to check your application status. You will be prompted to change your password when logging into SOLAR for the first time.

Please Note: Stony Brook ID numbers and passwords will not begin to be issued until mid-September for Spring/Fall 2009 applicants.

When you log in, you will be able to view whether or not your application is complete and your admission decision. Admission decisions displayed on SOLAR reflect general admission to the University, not to a specific major or program within the University. Information regarding admission to specific majors will be included in your letter of admission. Notification of admission to the Honors College, WISE, Scholars for Medicine, and the Honors Program in Computer Science will be mailed beginning mid-March, following receipt of the letter of admission to the University.

Early Action: Application status and admission decisions will be available online by January 1st for Early Action applicants.

Regular Decision: Students applying for regular decision will be able to see whether their application is complete when logging into Stony Brook's secure SOLAR System. However, admission decisions will not be available online until February 1st continuing on a rolling basis thereafter.
