The Stony Brook Chemistry faculty have diverse backgrounds and research interests, with a significant emphasis on interdisciplinary research. Total research funding is over $6 million/year from government, non-profit, and industrial sources.

Students have access to research projects in the broad range of chemistry fields:

as well as studies at the interfaces of chemistry and other disciplines (materials science, physics, molecular biology, pharmacology, geoscience, and others).
