  • Registration for Parent/Family Day is now closed. Lunch, lectures, and tours are currently full. Due to our current capacity, walk-in traffic at these events cannot be accomodated.
  • Football game tickets can be purchased at the Ticket window on game day, or in advance at http://goseawolves.cstv.com.

Stony Brook University is rolling out the red carpet for the parents and family members of Students on Parent/Family Day. Come see what makes us RED HOT!

10:30 AM Parking and Check-in (Administration Overflow Lot across from Wang Center, Stadium Parking Lot, and Student Activities Center Parking Lot)
Free parking is available on campus. Family members will check-in at the Student Activities Center and the Union Ballroom to receive their agenda for the day, coupons to Seawolves Marketplace and the University Book Store, meal tickets, game tickets and other info. A literature table with maps and other events happening around campus will be available.

  • Dr. Erez Zadok, Associate Professor of Computer Science, discusses trends in hardware and software as well as SBU’s research efforts to improve computer efficiency
  • Marianna Savoca, Director of the Career Center, will explore the complex relationship between today's college education and a graduate’s career & financial success.
  • Dr. Devinder Mahajan, Associate Professor of Chemical & Molecular Engineering, discusses the production of renewable fuels to mitigate the energy crisis.
  • Dr. Helmut Norpoth, Professor of Political Science, will discuss the upcoming elections and its political impact.
  • Dr. Michelle Millar, Associate Professor of Chemistry, will demonstrate chemical concepts that SBU students experience in the classroom, as well as research & career opportunities.
  • Dr. Nancy Tomes, Professor and Chair of the History Department, as well as an expert in the history of medicine, will speak with parents on her research and experiences.
  • Dean Joseph McDonnell, interim Dean of the School of Business, will discuss how SBU students are meeting the demands of business, both inside and outside the classroom.
2:30 PM Wolfie Lane (outside LaValle Stadium)
Kids can jump on the moon bounce or toss a football through our SBU inflatable activities. Take a picture with our mascot, Wolfie. Come watch the SBU Red Hot Marching band's spirit show outside the stadium. Be sure to wear red!
2:45 PM Pre-Game Show (LaValle Stadium)
Stony Brook University Marching Band and the office of Athletics provide a red hot pre-game show that you don't want to miss. Bring your shouting voice and get ready to cheer for the Seawolves!
3:00 PM Stony Brook University Seawolves vs. Gardner Webb University Runnin’ Bulldogs (LaValle Stadium)
Cheer the Seawolves on to victory in LaValle Stadium!

Additional Information

  • Registration fee is $20/per person for adults and children over five year old. Children 5 and under are free. Registration fee includes lunch, football game, and lectures.
  • Deadline to register is October 17, 2008. Registration is only available online. No refunds can be issues after October 24, 2008.
  • Free parking is available in the Administration Overflow Lot.
  • • Overnight accommodations are not available on campus during the academic year. Area accommodations are available, including national hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook or the Hampton Inn in Farmingville, which are convenient to the Long Island Expressway, as well as local hotels, such as the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook and Danford's in Port Jefferson. Some hotels may offer a "Stony Brook University" rate or free shuttle service to the University upon request.
