This
is GADFLY, here to challenge and amuse
you. Socrates was accused of being a GADFLY
to
Athenian society in Plato’s Apology.
He had been stirring up thought, creating
a nuisance and controversy. We intend to
do the same thing. Philosophy has provided
the starting point for us but we want to
include all of the undergraduate community
in audience and content. We depend entirely
on you for submissions—we will be
unable to continue without your help. The
goal of
GADFLY is to begin to fill the void that
is the absence of an intellectual community
at Stony Brook, to stimulate thought and
provoke debate. We are not a newspaper
nor are we an art magazine; rather we are
interested
in printing the work that you are proud
of, the stories and papers that you put
more
work into than was required, because you
enjoyed writing them. GADFLY is a place
for your stream-of-consciousness narratives
and
rants, poems and drawings. If it came from
your mind then we want to print it. Submit
to GADFLY and you will be instantly famous.
