The Commemoration of September 11
We honor alumni and other members of the Stony Brook family who were lost. Their deaths strengthen our resolve as a University community to foster the most basic ideals of freedom and equality.

The Memorial Commemoration takes place at 12 noon in the garden surrounding the Memorial Arch opposite the Humanities Building.
Rain Location: Student Activities Center Auditorium
The service will be followed by a silent processional to the SAC Circle from the Memorial Grove. Vans will be available at the Hospital main entrance. Access to the Administration Garage is available to East Campus cardholders. The Interfaith Center and Hospital Chapel will be open all day on September 11, 2008, for those seeking a quiet place for prayer, meditation, and reflection. Memorial Arch
The Arch, donated by the Stony Brook Alumni Association, honors the 21 Stony Brook alumni who were lost. Designed by Milton Glaser in collaboration with Nicholas Fasciano, the twelve-foot-high by eight-foot-wide arch is constructed of brass that will eventually change color to a soft verdigris.
Engraved down the sides of the arch are the names of those who were lost:

Van transportation for those from East Campus will depart from the front of University Hospital at 11:45 a.m. and return to the same location by 1:30 p.m. Contact Conferences & Special Events at 632-6320 to reserve a seat. Access to Admininistration Garage available to East Campus cardholders.
