Center for India Studies-The Center's goal is to promote a
better understanding of India via academic courses and programs that include a minor in South Asian Studies. The Center offers research activities and non-credit courses to the public; provides outreach to schools, libraries, and museums; and features public lectures, concerts, book discussions, and other special events. Center for Italian Studies-Cross this cultural bridge between the University and the Long Island community. The Center sponsors many events that focus on Italian culture and the Italian-American experience, including conferences, lectures, concerts, Italian language classes (no credit), and trips to the city. The Center also publishes books on Italian culture and contributions by Italian-Americans. Located in Room N-5006 of the Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library.

The Charles B. Wang Center, celebrating Asian and American cultures, is designed as a vital space for multidisciplinary and multicultural dialogues. The 120,000-square-foot building was officially presented to Stony Brook University by Charles B. Wang on October 22, 2002. The Wang Center is used for conferences, art exhibits, film festivals, lectures, seminars, and performances. It is open to all Stony Brook students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community.
It includes exhibit spaces, an inter-denominational chapel, an Asian food court, a theater, two lecture halls, a series of interior and exterior pools and terraces, and more than 35,000 square feet of sprawling gardens. A fiber optic network will enable students and professors at Stony Brook to exchange ideas across the world in real time, regardless of their physical location.

Humanities Institute-The Institute stimulates new modes of interdisciplinary research within the humanities and social
sciences; builds bridges between the human sciences and the
medical, technical, and natural sciences; and reaches out to the local community through public lectures and a film series. The Institute sponsors visiting Resident Fellows and two-day Distinguished Visiting Fellows to present their new research and interact with Stony Brook and other local faculty and students. It also organizes symposia and conferences, works with community groups, and designs interdisciplinary graduate and faculty courses, working closely with other units such as Africana Studies, the Center for Science Studies, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center, the School of Medicine, and Women's Studies. Japan Center - The Japan Center was established in January 2003 with the goal of creating a bridge between the University and the local community. It promotes education and research in the study of Japanese culture and society as well as the lives of Japanese and Japanese-Americans. Throughout the academic year the Center sponsors a Japanese language program, an essay contest, a New Year Celebration, a Spring Festival, Japanese films, lectures, and drums (taiko), as well as musical and dance programs. Most programs take place at the Charles B. Wang Center.

Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center-The place for cultural and academic events related to Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino themes and issues. The Center sponsors a speaker series, art exhibits, and film series. An undergraduate minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies is also offered. Located in Rooms N-333-337, N-316, and N-320 of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building.
