Frank Melville Jr. Memorial
Library (Main Library)-Located on the Academic Mall, the Melville Library
is among the largest academic libraries in the nation, housing collections
of materials on Engineering, Fine Arts and Music, General Science, Geosciences,
Humanities, and Social Sciences, as well as current periodicals, videos, government
documents, maps, microfilms, and legal material. The Melville Library also
offers a music listening center and a patent and trademark depository. Its
Special Collections unit houses the Jacob K. Javits Collection of 2,000,000
private papers and memorabilia, the William Butler Yeats Microfilmed Manuscripts
Collection, and the University Archives. The University Libraries (Frank Melville
Jr. Memorial Library and satellite campus libraries) have a wide array of
online resources, including more than 200 databases and 450 electronic full-text
journals.
