Qualified graduate students in their second year are eligible to apply for teaching assistantships in writing that include a tuition waiver and stipend. Graduate students are also eligible for limited financial assistance in the form of awards, including the Stony Brook Southampton Writers Conference Scholarship and the Deborah Hecht Memorial Prize in Fiction.

Writers Conference Scholarship
Matriculated MFA students enrolled in the Stony Brook Southampton Writers Conference are eligible for a partial scholarship to the Conference. Every matriculated MFA student enrolled in the Conference will automatically be considered for the scholarship.
Applicants are also encouraged to explore opportunities for external funding independent of Departmental and University resources.
