The Binghamton LSAMP Program, known as the Binghamton Success Program, supports underrepresented students in science, math, engineering, and computer science in their undergraduate studies and provides them with information, support and encouragement necessary to continue to graduate school.
The program offers a study skills course that provides content-specific strategies and skills necessary both for making a successful transition to a Research I university and for success in math, science, and engineering courses. In addition, an evening tutoring program and organized study groups are available to help students to excel in their coursework. To help students graduate on the "cutting edge" of their discipline, students are provided with information and support regarding internships, research opportunities, and professional conferences. Opportunities for networking with peers, upperclassmen, graduate students, faculty, and staff are also provided. A weekly gathering called TGIF is held on Fridays at noon in order for students to meet and discuss their weekly activities. The program also provides links to related campus organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
