Olufemi (Femi) Vaughan, D.Phil. Politics, Oxford University is Professor of Africana Studies and History. Dr. Vaughan's teaching and research interests are in African Studies, African Diaspora Studies, and International Politics. He is the author and editor of six books and many articles, including the award-winning book Nigerian Chiefs: Traditional Power in Modern Politics. Femi Vaughan is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, and a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. He has served as associate provost and associate dean in the Graduate School.

Erika BenhardtErika Benhardt

Erika is originally from Corinth, NY, a small town north of Albany.  She attended Castleton State College in Vermont and received her B.S. in Physical Education with a second major in Sociology.   After graduating, she taught Physical Education at an Elementary School in Vermont for 2 years.  She moved to Long Island in June 2004 and attended The College of New Rochelle where she received her M.S. in Guidance and Counseling.  Prior to coming to Stony Brook she was in College Admissions for 3 years working with prospective Graduate, Transfer and Freshman students.   She started at The College of New Rochelle as an admission counselor then became Assistant Director of Admissions at Long Island University C.W. Post.  Erika works as an Undergraduate College Advisor for Global Studies.  She is very excited to be working at Stony Brook and looks forward to working with Undergraduate students in their pursuit of personal and academic success.

Lori recently returned to her hometown of Eastport after spending 9 years in upstate NY, Oneonta area. She graduated from SUNY College at Oneonta with a B.S. in Human Ecology, Child and Family Studies. It was here that she discovered her passion for working in higher education and student affairs. Lori earned her M.A. in Social Science, Student Affairs and Diversity from Binghamton University. While working on her M.A. she enjoyed internships in Career Development and the Educational Opportunity Program. Prior to working at Stonybrook, Lori managed the SUNY Oneonta Phonathon program where she was responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student fund-raisers. She began her career at SBU in August 2007 as a College Advisor for the Undergraduate College of Global Studies. She looks forward to helping students positively transition to life at Stonybrook and assisting students throughout their first year of college.

 

Amanda HaxerQuad Director

Amanda is originally from Michigan, where she completed a degree in Interpersonal Communication at Central Michigan University and a Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership at Grand Valley State University. Amanda has worked in Residence Life, Student Activities, Orientation and a Women's Center for several years across the country including Colorado, Michigan and Massachusetts. She came to Stony Brook in January of 2007 as a RHD in Gray, and became the Quad Director for Eleanor Roosevelt Quad in June. She is very excited to have the opportunity to work with the Undergraduate College of Global Studies in her role!

 

Linda EastmanResidence Hall Director (Wagner College)
Linda Eastman

Linda has been affiliated with Stony Brook University for many years. She began her undergraduate work here in 1991 and graduated several years later, after participating in the National Exchange Program in California. Since then Linda has received a masters in Professional Development in Human Resource and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work. Linda has worked for Campus Residences for the past seven years in housing and has loved just about every minute of it. Some of Linda's most enjoyable aspects of her job are the times that she gets to spend working with the students, learning about their diversities and assisting them in their on going growth.

 

Mathew GregoryResidence Hall Director (Greeley College)
Mathew Gregory

Matthew grew up in Michigan and graduated from Grass Lake Senior High with a class size of 53. He earned his Bachelors of Business Administration: Human Resources Management degree from Eastern Michigan University. During his college years he worked as a summer and academic Conference Assistant/Resident Advisor, and a Residential Office Manager. Matthew worked for Columbia University in the summer of 2006 as the ACUHO-I intern manager of guest accommodations and the following summer at the University Center of Chicago as a intern in their hotel management/summer conference department. He spent one year in campus life as the Art's and Entertainment Coordinator. Currently, Matthew is in the process of earning his Masters degree in Professional Development: Higher Education here at Stony Brook University, while working as a Residence Hall Director for Greeley College. Matthew is a huge fan and follows Broadway as if it was his religion, so feel free to discuss any questions about getting tickets or different shows with him!

 

Ray SavageResidence Hall Director (Stimson College)

Ray is a native Long Islander, recently returning to the Island after being away for nearly 10 years. He graduated with a B.S. in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz in 2000 and went on to work as a Hall Director at SUNY Oneonta for four years. While in Oneonta, he had the opportunity to work as a Summer Orientation Hall Director, worked with faculty fellows, and facilitated the Diversity Dialogue Sessions. Following his days in upstate New York, he packed his bags for the Big Apple and spent two years at New York University pursuing his Master's degree in Higher Education Administration. While at NYU, Ray interned at the Office for Multicultural Affairs and studied abroad in London. Ray came to Stony Brook in March of 2007 and is currently the Hall Director for Stimson College. Here at Stony Brook, Ray teaches GLS 101 and is also an instructor for the AIDS Peer Education program. He's very excited to be part of the GLS team!

 

Basil PugliseResidence Hall Director (Keller College)
Basil Puglisi

Basil graduated from Rocky Point H.S. just 15 minutes from the Stony Brook Campus in 1999. He began his college experience at SUNY Suffolk County Community College in Liberal Arts in 1999-2000 and then transferred to the University at Albany (SUNY) to enter the Rockefeller College in the School of Criminal Justice. While enrolled at UAlbany Basil served as a Resident Assistant from Dec 2000 till May 2002 and in November 2002 he was Awarded "Outstanding Community Service Award" from President Karen Hitchcock for his work in the "Make A Difference" weekend held on campus and in the City of Albany. Basil also received a Commendation from the UPD for his work on the "Cleary Report" and a recommendation from U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer for his services. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice & American Government and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Albany. As a graduate student at Michigan State University, Basil worked on many programs campus wide and served both as a NR Coordinator for Residence Life (2003-2004) and an Assistant Hall Director (2004-2005). He earned a Masters in Public Policy & Administration in 2005 from Michigan State University. He enjoys traveling. Places he has visited include Paris, France; Moscow, Russia; and Montreal, Canada.
